EVP Xmas Party 2003
You would think that starting work at 10am and sleeping in would mean feeling more rested, but far from. I was so exhausted all day! Really hard to keep concentrating on work, but I did and I got a lot done. It was also weird being off by an hour all day.. heh. Then, it was off to the company Christmas party! Judy (lady from the upstairs office) picked me up after 6pm and off we went. We sat with Laurie (also from upstairs) and her husband. Dinner was late, but very good. Turkey dinner with all sorts of stuff on the side. Desert was also very good. Oh, and we got wine with dinner. I had maybe a quarter of the glass. It wasn't the best, and I'm not big on drinking anyway. There was a bar, but I just got a Coke. I didn't win any of the prizes. :P Sucks. Oh well. At some point the lights went down and the music got louder, opening the dance floor. It took a long time for anyone to get dancing, bunch of chickens! Finally, some of the office ladies (downstairs; shipping office) started going, and even our General Manager, Rene, got up there! Once a good song came on I went out to join the office ladies, though the rest of my table sat out the dancing. Heh. It was a lot of fun. There were a couple times when we disbanded to get a breath (and wait for better songs) but I went back up a few times before Judy and I left. At one point there was a big group of us with Dave, and later the girls got Ryan Chimilar (supervisor) up there! After a bit of dancing I went to get some Ginger Ale and some guy (don't know which he was) walked by, met me in the eye, and asked "Hey, how's it going?" lol! That's all he said tho.. after I replied he continued on to where he was going. It was funny because all evening no one was really noticing me, and I don't know the warehouse guys well so I stuck to the office staff I know. I know he saw me dancing. I know a LOT of people who weren't dancing were watching the dancers and I can't seem to get embarrassed by that. Wasn't drunk, knew what I was doing. And I know how to dance, so yeah. Goodie for me if some of them start to notice me now, although I think most of them are taken and/or smoke, so oh well.
I can't remember the last time I danced! At least, in public. Geez, it may not have been since Europe! That really sucks. Well, goodie for me because I get to dance again in a couple weeks, at my friend's wedding. I tell ya, the next person I date had better like to dance and want to go out dancing at least once a month, if not more!! It would be helpful if they didn't need to get drunk to dance, but what are the chances of that? Not good. The problem I have with that is when people are drunk they don't act like themselves and it makes me uncomfortable/nervous. It's like some sorta instinctual sense that something's not quite "right" with them. Like one of the supervisor's last night. He was getting drunk (maybe about half-way there) and he didn't do anything wrong, but when he talked to me there was just this vibe that was icky. Like, if he DID get drunk he may have started to act improper or something. Yeah, that's one big part of alcohol I don't like: how "friendly" people get after drinking a lot. It's not a good kind of friendly. It's a "drooling", tripping, leering type of friendly that's very unnerving. If I'm ever at a club somewhere and someone's trying to get up the courage to talk to me, they'd better not get drunk to get that courage, else they'll end up just really turning me off! :P
